Connecting your assistant

You connect from the assistant you want to coach with, then sign in and approve access to your training account.

ChatGPT and Claude use different addresses, so copy the one for your assistant exactly.

Connecting ChatGPT

Follow these steps in ChatGPT on the web or the desktop app. The mobile app cannot add one.

1. Open Plugins. On the web, it’s in the left sidebar. On desktop, it’s the Customize icon in the left rail, then Plugins.
2. Select Add → Create MCP App.
3. Name it AgentRunCoach and use the address above for the Server URL.
4. Leave Authentication set to OAuth, check I understand and want to continue, then select Create.
5. Select Continue to AgentRunCoach, then sign in and approve the permission screen.

Once it is connected, start a new conversation. ChatGPT reaches for AgentRunCoach when your question needs it, or type @AgentRunCoach to pick it yourself.

Connecting Claude

This works in Claude on the web, the desktop app and the mobile app.

1. Open Settings → Connectors.
2. Select +, then Add custom connector.
3. Name it AgentRunCoach and use the address above for the URL.
4. Select Add, then sign in to AgentRunCoach and approve the permission screen.

After setup in either assistant, return to AgentRunCoach onboarding and verify the connection.

Troubleshooting

If verify can’t see your connection

• ChatGPT: check that AgentRunCoach is listed under Installed in Plugins. If you made it with Add → Create plugin instead of Create MCP App, it is marked Desktop only and never connects from ChatGPT on the web. Start again with Create MCP App.
• Claude: a free Claude plan allows one custom connector. If you already have another one, remove it first.

When you connect to AgentRunCoach, make sure you’re connecting as the account you expect. The approval screen names it. If it’s not the right one, select Not you? Use a different account and sign in again.

If Create MCP App is missing

In a ChatGPT work or school workspace, Create MCP App only appears if your admin allows members to create plugins with MCP apps. Ask them to turn it on.

Reconnecting when coaching data is missing

First check that AgentRunCoach is enabled in the conversation. Then reconnect:

• ChatGPT: open Plugins (the left sidebar on the web, Customize on desktop) and select AgentRunCoach under Installed. Under Connected accounts, select Reconnect next to your account.
• Claude: open Settings → Connectors, then disconnect and reconnect AgentRunCoach.

Removing AgentRunCoach from your assistant takes away that assistant’s permission. It does not delete your plan, activities or coaching history, or touch Strava.

What the permission allows

Connecting lets your assistant request the parts of your account needed for the conversation and ask AgentRunCoach to take an action for you. The assistant still follows its own memory, privacy and workspace rules. AgentRunCoach does not store the transcript of that conversation.
